Unleash Your Imagination. Create Your Reality.
Unleash Your Imagination. Create Your Reality.
Here at Inkspitter Studio, our focus is on the fundamentals of art and expanding our foundation into the concepts we want to illustrated so we can tell our own stories in our own way. It is important to have a strong foundation in the elements and principles of art, these are the core concepts that make up what we see and how we translate that information in our chosen medium. Continuing from there, it's important to understand how to convey that information in a way our viewers can understand. So we study concepts such as composition, anatomy, color theory, perspective, movement, how to structure a story, story narrative in illustration, character design, creature design and so much more.
All of this with the purpose of helping students find their own voice artistically and developing their own artistic style.
Classes are available in a variety of different ways. From weekly group classes, short workshops, private one on one art lessons, camps, tutorial videos and video courses. These classes are available for the age groups - middle school, high school and adult. Occasional beginner classes are available for upper elementary aged students.
All classes are taught by a highly educated and professional working artist - Jessica Ann Nunno. She is one of the most sought after teaching artists in North Alabama. With 6 years of teaching experience behind her, she has taught in a variety of different art mediums as well as science courses and to every conceivable age group from pre k to adults on a weekly basis. All instructors and assistants on Jessica's team have been trained by her in teaching skills as well as artistically.
Who Is Inkspitter?
Inkspitter is a character designed by Jessica to break the fourth wall of her stories... anything that Jessica writes and illustrates including her comics, short stories and marketing.
He is a creature created from Jessica's imagination and has come to life. He now lives in the fourth dimension. He can change size and color... even the texture of his skin. Much like an actual octopus. But, Inkspitter is also part dog.
Inkspitter is a trickster, loving to play pranks and switch things when you're not looking. Anything he needs he can materialize from the fourth dimension. Making him very powerful. The thing is Inkspitter cannot move beyond the page. He lives in the fourth dimension but we can only interact with him in the second dimension. Thus limiting the scope of Inkspitters powers by confining him to a page.
Who Is Aster?
Aster is another character created by Jessica. Aster is Inkspitters sidekick. She floats along without a care in the world flitting between the fourth dimension and the second dimension. Once again like Inkspitter the only way we can interact with Aster is on a page.
Aster's role is to help Inkspitter and to be the navigator of Jessica's stories. She is a combination of a squid and a jellyfish. Her power is to disappear in a cloud of ink and she will pop up when you least expect her. Probably in the middle of a drawing, curious abiut whats going on.

Freelance Illustrator, Teaching Artist, Storyteller & Business Owner
Jessica is a professional full time working artist. She graduated from the School of Visual Arts in NYC with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Illustration. She is a classically trained artist who is versed in many different mediums. Jessica also has a number of professional development hours in art integration, psychology and marketing. She owns and operates her small business out of a studio in Lowe Mill Arts & Entertainment, located in Huntsville, AL. Lowe Mill is the largest private owned art community in the United States. She grew up in Connecticut, very close to the border of Manhattan. She has spent a lot of time living, traveling and working throughout New England. Jessica found herself in Huntsville about 10 years ago.
Jessica is an accomplished Illustrator and Teaching Artist. She went full time as a freelancer in 2020 the year the pandemic hit. Not knowing at the beginning of the year as she made this change that the pandemic would hit her small business hard as it had for so many others. That year she lost 14 booked shows, her studio was forced closed and outsiders were not allowed into the schools. In response to this Jessica jumped on the abilities of Zoom and moved all of her private lesson students online. She started running online group classes and a free online art club for preteens and teenagers. Because she was one of a few people willing to teach in person during this time Jessica was brought into the Huntsville Museum of Art as a substitute and quickly became a reoccurring teaching artist working with multiple age groups and subjects for the museum. Around the same time Jessica was approached by the North Alabama Arts Education Collaborative. She became the teaching visual artist for their arts integration program. In response to the pandemic and not being able to enter the schools the NAAEC and Jessica partnered to provide children with arts education that was accessible when they had none. That year Jessica made 69 tutorial videos using household materials and easily accessible art supplies that went out to 5 different schools and on social media. The following year she would join Arts Huntsville's steering committee to improve arts education in North Alabama and begin professional development courses in arts integration. She also held her first 2 solo gallery shows and she created a .5 mile long mural along Blue Springs Road in Huntsville, AL as a part of the beautification of Huntsville project. She won multiple awards and started to jury into large fine art festivals and conventions. Jessica went from a very uncertain circumstance to having a thriving well rounded business as a full time artist. All of this work allowed Jessica to open a large studio on the first floor of Lowe Mill where she could pursue her goal of running a school dedicated to illustration, comics and cartooning concepts and where she could showcase her own work as an illustrator and as a comic artist.
Jessica currently runs her studio/ school out of Lowe Mill A&E, is a teaching artist for the Huntsville Museum of Art and for a subsection of Arts Huntsville the Creative Launchpad (formerly North Alabama Arts Education Collaborative). She teaches her own private art lessons and group lessons/ workshops. She runs a retail store out of her studio and online. She regularly books solo and group gallery shows, gives speeches and vends at fine art festivals and conventions. Jessica is currently working on her own illustrations, comics and a coloring book.
